Saturday Night Around The Bay

If you enjoy going to nice places but don’t want to spend a ton of money here is an idea: eat dinner at home and then go out for an after dinner drink or a dessert. We did this a few weekends ago and it was so nice.

A few Saturdays ago, Celia and I decided to go over the bridge and in to San Francisco. We met up with our friend Alan to have a drink on Fillmore Street, in the Pacific Heights neighborhood. We told him we wanted a sophisticated place where we could get a seat and actually hear each other talk. Standing around in a crowded bar or club where you have to shout in each others ears to talk is not my idea of a fun night out.

Alan found the perfect place for us! He took us to The Long Bar & Bistro. This is an elegant and classy bar but relaxed enough that it was okay we were in jeans with a nice top. We were lucky enough to get a table at the window – perfect for people watching. I drank a delicious glass of Champagne while Celia and Alan each had a glass of Port served in the most adorable little cups. The bar tender was friendly and welcoming and the place was full of friendly people. We only had drinks but I plan to go back to try the food.
