Yardhouse – Costa Mesa

Posted by: | Comments (0)

This isn’t exactly a locally owned independent business (or the Bay Area) but I enjoy Yard House so much I decided to write about it. Every time I go to Orange County I make sure to stop by the Yard House in Triangle Square at least once. They have over 100 beers on tap.  Despite all my beer choices I always order the same one – The Hoegaarden White.

I recommend going to Yard House during Happy Hour when you can get select appetizers for half off. Happy Hour is Monday – Friday from 3 – 6pm.

The food is delicious. My sister and I went for an early dinner the other night.  We had the Blue Crab Cakes with mango papaya chutney.

The Moo Shoo Egge Rolls served with apple ginger plum sauce.

And the California Roll. The Yardhouse California Rolls are like no other Califronia Roll – it’s more like a California Cake.

This should be the last Orange County post for awhile. Now returning to the Bay Area. :-)

Montclair Village in Oakland

This week I discovered a neighborhood in Oakland, CA called Montclair Village.

I drove dear daughter to volleyball camp at St. Mary’s College in Moraga and decided it was best to stay on the East side of the Bay instead of driving back and forth over the Richmond-San Rafael bridge twice in one day. Since I had 3 hours to kill, I stopped by to visit Amy who works nearby in Montclair.

I had no idea Montclair had such a charming downtown full of boutiques, cafes and restaurants. I was hungry so Amy suggested we try the local Taqueria Las Comadres. They have a great early Happy Hour Special: $1 Soft Tacos and $2 Fish Tacos. I think the Happy Hour Special goes from 3pm – 5pm but I’d recommend calling first to confirm.

Las Camadres is a cute little Taqueria with tables inside and out. We ordered the fish tacos and sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. The tacos were great!

Las Camadres is located in Montclair Village
