Suicide Survivors Day

Share

Today is International Suicide Survivors Day, meaning it is a day for people who have survived the loss of a loved one to suicide.

I realized this, only because I saw it on Twitter. I took note of this day because tomorrow is the 28th anniversary of the day my high school boyfriend took his own life.

For the last 28 years, I have had a ritual of playing the song ‘Somebody‘ by DePeche Mode over and over. The last letter he ever wrote to me were the lyrics to this song.

As I am writing this post, while listening to ‘Somebody’ over and over, 28 year old tears are falling from my eyes.

If you are feeling suicidal, please reach out for help. You have NO idea how far reaching the pain of losing you will go and how much people love you.
